Umar Mohammed, the Director of Operations, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has been chosen to fill in for the agency’s embattled boss Ibrahim Magu.
The latest development was disclosed by a top official of the commission who spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja yesterday, June 7, 2020.
According to the source, Umar was picked by the EFCC’s hierarchy following the suspension of Magu, adding that the commission had not received any official communication on the reported suspension.
Ibrahim Magu is being questioned by a presidential panel set up to investigate allegations of gross misconduct on his part.
The EFCC boss appeared before the panel led by Ayo Salami on Monday, June 6, 2020, before he was reportedly taken into police custody.
